“Your best years will be behind you once into your 40s….”
Sound familiar?
This narrative was commonplace when I was growing up, but in 2025 I have a very different view.
I feel like I am now doing the best work of my life, and I am in my 50s.
We gained 30 additional years—many healthy years!—during the 20th Century.
We perform knowledge work, and less manual labour, in 72% of first-economy jobs.
People are living longer, choosing to work for longer (or need to), and enjoying more healthy years into their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond.
These gains, however, are not automatic. You won’t emerge from any cocoon.
We must make an intentional effort to continue growing and developing.
Here’s the problem—the worn-out commonplace that you have peaked by 45 no longer holds water.
It commonly doesn't match our lived experience.
This old narrative is also now being displaced by neuroscientific and longevity research revealing how to have a longer, vibrant life (God willing).
Thrive After 45 was created by Dr Michael Netzley, Professor and Founder of Extend My Runway, to help people unlock this longevity dividend by making the right science-backed behaviour changes…based on recent neuroscientific research.
Change your behaviours, rewire your brain, and live an even better life.
